There’s magic in the legend of a young man with nothing up his sleeve becoming the greatest close-up magician in the world. It began in Manhatan in 1991 when a sixteen year-old JB selected a random Gramercy Park restaurant and went to work making silver coins appear and flipping cards into a parade for the two biggest freaks in the place – Paulina Porizkova and Ric Ocasek. By the age of twenty-one, JB had performed around the city at corporate gatherings, private dinners, and parties of every kind as word spread that there was magic in the magic.

“I can show up at somebody’s house and have nothing with me,” said JB. “I can borrow a cup. If I went into your kitchen and took a big coffee mug and told you to stare at this thing you’re used to seeing every day, then I lifted a grapefruit out from underneath it, well, people have been known to run out of their houses.”

Take a tour of JB's incendiary magic along with Warren Buffet, Bono, Nelson Mandela, Donna Karan, and Mary Tyler Moore. He has a long list of corporate clients as well, including HBO, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Paramount Pictures, CNN, IMG, Royal Capital, Forstmann Little, Rolling Stone, and Google. He has performed at Vanity Fair’s Oscar Party for five consecutive years, and many after-parties for the Golden Globes. Articles about his sleight of hand have appeared in Vanity Fair, Interview, and Vogue. Television appearances include: Arts & Entertainment’s Mondo Magic; AXN TV’s Magic/Asia; and an NBC Special, The Royal Family of Monaco. A born adventurer who considers reality a matter of opinion, JB has brought magic to places all over the world – from Outer Mongolia to Papua New Guinea, Guatamala to China. When not traveling the world, J.B. makes his home on the lower east side of Manhattan.

JB’s incendiary form of close-up magic and mind reading at the Vanity Fair Oscar party, The Golden Globes after party, a private performance for the Eagles, Nelson Mandela, Warren Buffet, or Oprah Winfrey, proves time and again the truth of his own adage that—seeing is disbelieving.

Corporate outings, weddings, bachelor parties, birthdays, wherever people are celebrating, JB brings a particularly entertaining intensity to his magic. “Basically,” says JB, “I do miracles in front of people”

JB Benn has performed for the Royal Family of Monaco on an NBC Special, was a guest on the Late Show with Conan O’Brien, and appeared with Harrison Ford in Paramount Picture’s Sabrina. For A&E Television’s Mondo Magic, JB and his cohort, Chris Korn were filmed not only in cities around the United States and Canada, but also in Singapore. That led to Benn’s third series, Magic Asia, filmed in the fall of 2007, on the streets of Mumbai, India.
